Extracted from e-mail message from Zuber Zain:

The book was officially launched by the YB Deputy Minister of Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage on last Friday evening at INTAN Auditorium. It was on sale soon after the launching at RM200 but Kirkby Alumni was given 25% discount (RM50).

Out of 100 books delivered by the printer, about 20 books were given as souvenir to Invited Guests (VIPs, Paper Presenters, Session Chairpersons, donors) during the 2 days convention and 40 books were sold.

For those unable to attend the Reunion and unable to buy dont worry. I have in my stock another 40 books which could be given to Kirkbyites at 10% discount (less RM20). I will absorb the courier/postage cost (domestic) but for outstation buyers please add another 10% for postage. The hardcover 320 pages book is quite heavy you know.

[ Amendment request (e-mail of 29.01.2009) from Zuber Zain: “….. make an amendment in your Kirkby Website that the selling price of the book is RM200.00 and oversea postage is RM50.00”]

Please send your order via to my e-mail zuberzain@yahoo.com or sms at 6019-2103417. Then bank-in your payment at my account:  Zuber Zain, Maybank 1142-1708-2511. After that please send the bank-in slip to me at my home address: Zuber Zain, 3 Jalan Hilir 3, Taman Ampang Hilir, 55100 KL.

You will get your copy in one week (domestic) and 2 weeks (foreign countries).

Most Kirkbyites I have met were full of praise of the book and they hope a better the second edition will come out soon. I told them I have to sell the first 1,000 copies first before we go for the second edition. God willing if the Ministry of Education place a big order, then there will be a better second edition.

Most probably the second edition book will be on display at London Book Fair this coming April 2009.

Another important side event will be the presentation of the Kirkby College book to the Liverpool Mayor, Liverpool University Library and Kirkby County Mayor. We might go to Liverpool by morning train, reenacting the first journey to Kirkby 50 years ago.

The Kirkby College Alumni Association will try to arrange a plane load of Kirkbyites to UK for the last visit to Kirkby and put a permanent Kirkby College plaque on the site of the Kirkby College.

We will also try to contact the family of former lecturers for a final Reunion at Kirkby. I propose Chris Walters to arrange this event.
