R.I.P. Susan Lim’s husband: 13-10-2013
Susan Lim – Kirkby 1960-1961 – called me at 3.08 pm to convey the sad news of her husband’s demise this morning around 8.30. Her husband, Tan Tock Hua, suffered a heart attack and passed away.
I have known Tock Hua for many years. He was in Port Dickson working with a oil refinery company for a few years. Susan and Tock Hua were close to Shanmuganathan (Shan) while in PD.
Later, Tock Hua moved to Penang and served with a company involved in rubber products for many years. Even after his retirement, the company needed his expertise and retained him as their consultant.
Finally, they shifted back to their home town in Kulai. Tock Hua was a consultant for a company in Singapore.
Any time Tock Hua came to Penang for his work-related trip to Penang, he made it a point to contact me. Together with two of his former colleagues, we used to go for a hearty banana leaf meal. Tock Hua simply loved Indian food.
I have known him to be a very generous, kind and concerned person; a loving husband and a caring father to his children.
He has been to all our Kirkby Reunions with his family since 2004. He would have been in Penang for the next Reunion in 2014 had he been alive. It was he who made all the arrangements to be present at these reunions.
We will miss him very much.
