R.I.P. - RUBY ISSAC’S
HUSBAND
My dear Kirkbyites,
It is with sadness
that I announce the passing of Arthur the beloved husband of Ruby Issac from
the 1959-1960 Kirkby batch. Arthur passed away last night at Asunta Hospital
without regaining consciousness.
I understand that
Arthur had collapsed in his house last Saturday, 18-12-09. He was rushed to the
hospital in a critical condition and was in the ICU unit since then. Yesterday
I was told that his fever had subsided and that the bleeding had stopped; his
eyes were slightly flickering. These signs were taken as hopeful indication
that he was responding to the treatment and was recovering. Then all of a
sudden, he passed away around midnight.
This must be
understandably a terrible blow to Ruby. We feel for her loss and share her pain
and agony that she must be undergoing right now.
Two weeks before his
collapse, Arthur had returned from the States after visiting his youngest
daughter who had given birth to her third child. He was there for a month.
It appears that there
was no sign of sickness prior to this episode. According to Martin Voon, Arthur
shared the same table with him at the joint birthday party of Amy/Spykerman in
October. And I’m also told that at the farewell lunch for David Tong organised
by Balasubramaniam on 8-8-09, he was seated with Choong Cheng Swee. On both
occasions he was well and jovial.
I met him for the
first time a few years ago when Ruby and Arthur came to Penang for a holiday.
We met at Rosalyn’s place. Arthur came across as a pleasant and friendly
person.
There will probably
be a wake at their residence to night. I’m informed that the funeral takes
place tomorrow at 10 am from St Paul’s Church which is located opposite Amcorp
Mall in PJ.
To spare Ruby the
pain of having to relate what happened to Arthur, it may be best that we don’t
call to speak to her. It may be too traumatic for her at this juncture to keep
repeating what happened. However, it will be a great gesture to drop a note or
send a card. This will no doubt be appreciated by Ruby.
It is a terrible loss
to bear when we have to part from the other half at some point in our life. But
this is the inevitable process we all have to undergo in life. May God give us
the strength and the endurance to face this challenge when it finally comes.
May Arthur’s soul
rest in eternal peace.

attend the wake or write to Ruby, this information may be useful to you:
